A few things to keep in mind while completing this activity:

1. Do not use the browser Back button or close or reload any exam windows during the exam.
2. Do not close Packet Tracer when you are done. It will close automatically.
3. Click the Submit Assessment button to submit your work.

Introduction

In this practice Packet Tracer Skills Exam, you will:

• finish connecting the devices
• configure a Linksys device to provide access to both wired and wireless clients
• verify and troubleshoot full connectivity to the Internet

Addressing Table

Step 1: Connect the Devices.

a.     Use a straight-through cable to connect the Internet interface on the Linksys router to the cable modem.

b.    Connect Staff to an available interface on the Remote Campus router.

NOTE: Do not connect cables to Student A and Student B. These devices connect wirelessly.

Step 2: Configure the Staff PC.

a.     Configure Staff with the correct IP address, subnet mask, default gateway, and DNS server. The DNS server is 192.0.2.10.

b.    From the command prompt on Staff, ping Remote Campus, the default gateway.

Step 3: Configure the Linksys Router.

a.     You will not be able to access Remote Campus by clicking on it. Instead, use the web browser on Staff to connect to Remote Campus. Currently, Remote Campus uses the default admin as the username and password.

b.    The WAN interface uses the highest (last) host IP address in the subnet 128.107.50.0 with the subnet mask 255.255.255.0. The default gateway for the Remote Campus WAN interface is the lowest (first) host IP address. Configure the following:

·         IP address

·         subnet mask

·         default gateway

·         DNS 1 = 192.0.2.10

c.     Activate DHCP on the LAN interface and create a pool that will deliver a maximum of 15 addresses from the 10.1.1.0/24 subnet starting at 10.1.1.75.

d.    Configure 192.0.2.10 as the first static DNS address.

e.     Change the default SSID to uniremote. The SSID is case-sensitive.

Step 4: Connect the Wireless PCs.

a.     Configure Student A to connect wirelessly to Remote Campus. Student A should be able to ping Remote Campus and the XYZ University server at www.xyzuni.edu. Troubleshoot any issues. DNS resolution in Packet Tracer may take up to 30 seconds the first time you ping the XYZ University server.

b.    Configure Student B to connect wirelessly to Remote Campus. Student B should be able to ping Remote Campus and the XYZ University server at www.xyzuni.edu. Troubleshoot any issues.

NOTE: Make sure Student A and Student B have received full IP addressing. It may be necessary to release and renew the IP configuration.

Step 5: Configure and Verify Wireless Security.

a.     Allow remote access to Remote Campus with the following case-sensitive password: xyzremote

b.    Use the case-sensitive password 0123456789 to configure Remote Campus with WEP authentication.

c.     Configure Student A and Student B to re-associate to the wireless network. It may be necessary to release and renew the IP configuration.

d.    Verify full connectivity between LAN devices and from LAN devices to the XYZ University server at www.xyzuni.edu. For example, the following pings should be successful.

·         Staff can ping Student A

·         Student B can ping www.xyzuni.edu

Step 6: Verify and Troubleshoot Connectivity.

Identify and correct any faults that prevent connectivity. Verify that all devices have connectivity to each other and the XYZ University server at www.xyzuni.edu.
